The President, celebrities and athletes all respond to Donald Sterling’s racists remarks!

It’s no surprise that after everyone heard the racist remarks Donald Sterling (owner of the NBA Clippers) made to his girlfriend (who’s mixed by the way), that people were going to have something to say.

And boy did they…

In case you live under a rock and haven’t heard the infamous recorded phone call between Sterling and his girlfriend, let me sum it up for you.

Apparently Don, a man who likes to fuck women of color and hire them as basketball players and etc, doesn’t want to be associated with them off of the court; and demanded that his girlfriend do the same.

Well, people were disgusted by Sterling’s “Plantation Owner” mentality remarks, and put up responses everywhere: online, through social media, as well as through protests.

Here’s what we have so far:

President Obama

You know shit is bad when the President of The United States has to give a response.

“I don’t think I have to interpret those statements for you, they speak for themselves. When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you really don’t have to do anything, you just let them talk…”

Athletes:

Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson

It’s no surprise that two of the biggest names in NBA history were going to have something to say about this, especially Johnson, who was named during the recorded phone call by Sterling as a person who was not welcomed into a game.

Jordan released a statement on how he was disgusted and outraged by Don’s comments, and that hopefully NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will “take appropriate action quickly.”

Magic Johnson shares MJ’s thoughts, and is even rumored to be in the process of trying to purchase because as Magic put it, Donald “shouldn’t own a team anymore.”

As for the Clippers, the team Donald Sterling owns, they decided to put on a silent protest by wearing their warm up shirts inside out, making sure NOT to show off the team’s logo. Share photos on twitter with Twitpic

The Heat, to show their support, followed suit and wore their shirts inside out, while the Blazers and Rockets protested by wearing black socks during their game.

Oprah Winfrey had something to say as well.

The NAACP, who were going to give an award to Sterling, have reneged on those plans following his controversial statements.

“He is not receiving a lifetime achievement award from the NAACP.”

And of course, from all of us here at The Crowd Updater… this is our response to Donald Sterling.
