It doesn’t take long for celebrities to issue an apology after making an ass of themselves on social media. The apologies seem to follow so fast you almost assume they’re written as soon as the remarks are made.
Take T.I. for example.
During a recent interview with DJ Whoo Kidd, the rapper was asked about Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton and who would make the better Leader of The Free World. Anybody in their right mind would automatically name Hilary as the winner, but T.I had a very important reason why he did the opposite… She’s a woman.
“Not to be sexist but, I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman. Just because, every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But the president? It’s kinda like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally – they make very permanent, cemented decisions – and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen.”
I’m sure T.I. meant well, but then he went on to explain his thoughts on Trump and how the “businessman” might actually be “beneficial” to the country, and I couldn’t with him anymore…
The rapper quickly backtracked with an apology on Twitter after receiving loads of backlash and scrutiny over his comments. However, Tip apologizing for his offensive statements only means he’s sorry people were hurt by them; it doesn’t necessarily mean he doesn’t agree with them.
My comments about women running for president were unequivocally insensitive and wrong. I sincerely apologize to everyone I offended.
