Pharrell Williams signs to Columbia; set to drop new album for 2014!!

I was starting to think Pharrell had retired to the backseat of music making as just another big hit producer, but recent news has proved me wrong.

It seems the N.E.R.D. member will be expanding on his own solo career…starting with a new partnership deal with Columbia Records.

Williams has just signed a new partnership deal with Columbia, who announced through a press release statement that the Grammy Award winning artist would be dropping a new album next year.

“The internationally renowned artist’s new single ‘Happy,’ featured on Despicable Me 2 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), will also be featured on Williams’ forthcoming Columbia Records full-length debut, set to be released in 2014.”

I don’t care what anyone says, I fucks with Pharrell.

He may not be the best singer or rapper, but the man makes good fucking music. Period. Williams is one of the few producers who can work with a wide array of artists and still keep his signature scent, without sounding outdated or annoyingly familiar.

(*cough* and Timbaland *cough*)

So I’m looking forward to Pharrell’s new album and the direction he’ll take it in; not to mention the features he’ll have!

I’ll keep y’all posted.
