Former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland has a lot to balance on her plate as a solo artist and new mother, but the singer somehow found time between working on new music and being an awesome mom to her son Titan to create a talent competition show with BET to find the next Super Girl Group!
The show, titled Chasing Destiny, follows Rowland on a three city journey (New York, Atlanta and LA) as she and star choreographer, Frank Gatson, search for the “next blazing hot singing sensation” that meets “Kelly Rowland’s standard for excellence.”
According to BET’s online audition form, all those looking to tryout must be over the age of 18, available to film in LA between November 2015-March 2016 and CANNOT be signed to a record deal already. The form also includes the cheesy yet mandatory “Tell Us About Yourself in 300 Words or Less” section, an option to add links to performances and upload pictures (close up, 3/4th full length shots).
After the audition process, Kelly explained that the next part is grooming the potential stars, to help “narrow down” the list of girls and ultimately form their group, although a lot of it has been by ear:
“This is not orchestrated. It’s something we’re allowing to happen organically. That’s the way it should happen. We haven’t put a particular age on this, a certain look or sound. It’s just going to happen… This is a real journey. “
Chasing Destiny is scheduled to premiere Tuesday, April 5th, 2016
