That awkward moment when your fave director Ava DuVernay rips out your comic book stanning heart, and then gently places it back inside your chest.
Ugh, my feels!!
I was really hoping to hear good news from Miss Ava Duvernay regarding one of these Marvel super hero films, but sadly there’s a good chance the Queen won’t do it. Duvernay tweeted out that she would be down to direct a super hero movie IF…
It was about Bree Newsome.

Now while my comic book loving heart was smashed into a million little pieces, my love for Ava Dubernay was not. Not only did the Queen downplay the rumor about her possibly directing Marvel’s Black Panther, but she also brought some light to a much more deserving individual and real life hero, Bree Newsome!
Bree was courageous enough to climb the 30 foot flag pole in front of Charleston’s State House, remove the offensive Confederate Flag, climb back down with no problem.
The 30 year old activist made it clear that she knew what she was doing and was ready for the consequences of her actions, which was being arrested; and ultimately charged with a misdemeanor for defacing monuments, a $5,000 fine and possible jail time.
Since then more celebs have praised Bree for her actions, with director Michael Moore even offering to pay her bail.

So while I might be a little brokenhearted about Duvernay’s
possibly passing on The Black Panther movie, I’d be more than happy to see a film about Bree!
